I've got my eye on a Nikon D90. I've used a couple of Canons (400D's? I think?) and to be honest while they were better than my D70 I am not really a fan of Canon. It's just a personal preference to choose Nikon.
Really, the way I started with my Nikon was I'd had my eye on a few eBay auctions and won the Nikon. I liked the reviews and thought it'd be a good starting camera as it was a very popular one for its time. But now it's ancient and I can't actually review the photos I'm taking very well. There's a lot of software features (such as mirror lockup) that it doesn't have that I know others do. Also, a selling point for me is live view. Sometimes I would just love to see it on the screen too.
I also have a wishlist pining for a 50mm 1.8 and a Speedlite.. But they are aspensive!
We'll see. This makes me happy though, I feel that with a better camera I may be a bit more inspired to take photos as I just can't seem to get the results I want from the equipment I have. Ah, the life of photography.
